Bipolar Artery Sealers for Sale - Vessel Sealing Forceps and Connecting Cords
Vessel sealing with bipolar energy is a different clinical proposition from standard bipolar haemostasis. Conventional bipolar forceps coagulate by desiccating tissue between the jaws - the protein denatures, the vessel occludes, and the seal holds for small vessels under low luminal pressure. That mechanism works reliably up to a point. For larger vessels - particularly those above approximately 3 mm in diameter - standard bipolar coagulation does not produce a seal that withstands arterial pressure, and ligation or alternative haemostatic techniques are needed.
Bipolar artery sealers address this limitation through a combination of controlled bipolar energy delivery and jaw clamping pressure. The forceps apply a defined compression force to the vessel wall while delivering bipolar energy that fuses the collagen and elastin within the vessel wall and surrounding connective tissue into a coherent seal. When done correctly, this produces a seal that can withstand arterial bursting pressures well above the physiological range - published data generally cites seal strengths of 3x to 7x systolic pressure - allowing vessels up to 7 mm in diameter to be sealed and divided without clips, sutures, or mechanical staplers.
The instruments in this category at NJ Medical Instruments cover the bipolar vessel sealing system components: the bi-clamp artery forceps, a non-stick variant for reduced tissue adhesion during sealing, and the silicone connecting cord that links the forceps to the bipolar generator. All CE-certified.
How Bipolar Vessel Sealing Works - and Why Instrument Quality Matters
The seal quality in bipolar vessel sealing depends on three factors that the instrument directly controls: jaw clamping pressure, electrode contact area and geometry, and the electrical pathway through the clamped tissue.
Jaw clamping pressure has to be consistent across the full width of the jaw. If the jaw geometry produces uneven pressure - higher at the tips, lower towards the hinge - the seal is inconsistent across its width, and the weak zone is where failure occurs. Jaw manufacturing precision is therefore directly relevant to seal reliability.
The electrode surfaces on both jaws have to make uniform contact with the vessel wall tissue and transmit bipolar energy evenly across the sealed zone. Electrode surface finish, insulation integrity at the jaw edges, and the absence of electrode coating defects all affect this. Non-stick surface treatment on the jaw electrodes additionally reduces the tissue adhesion that otherwise causes mechanical disruption when the jaws are opened after sealing.
The connecting cord carries the controlled bipolar energy waveform from the vessel sealing generator to the forceps. Vessel sealing generators produce a specific feedback-controlled energy output that differs from standard bipolar coagulation - the generator monitors tissue impedance in real time and adjusts energy delivery to achieve complete sealing without over-desiccation. The cord has to carry this signal with consistent impedance, and connector integrity at both ends matters for accurate feedback transmission.

Artery Forceps Bi-Clamp
The Artery Forceps Bi-Clamp is the core vessel sealing instrument - both jaws carry bipolar electrode contacts, the jaw geometry produces the controlled compression force required for vessel sealing, and the handle connects to the bipolar vessel sealing generator via the connecting cord. This instrument replaces the clip-and-divide or suture-ligation steps in vascular dissection with a single seal-and-divide sequence, reducing operative time in dissection-heavy procedures such as thyroidectomy, colectomy, hysterectomy, and cholecystectomy. CE-certified.
Artery Forceps Non-Stick - Vessel Sealing with Reduced Tissue Adhesion
The Artery Forceps Non-Stick is the non-stick electrode surface variant of the bi-clamp configuration. During vessel sealing, the fused tissue at the seal zone tends to adhere to the electrode surface - opening the jaws after sealing can disrupt the seal edge if adhesion force exceeds the seal strength at the margin. Non-stick electrode surface treatment reduces this adhesion, allowing cleaner jaw release after sealing without mechanical disruption to the completed seal. CE-certified.
Silicone Bi-Clamp Connecting Cord
The Silicone Bi-Clamp Connecting Cord is the cable connecting the bi-clamp forceps to the vessel sealing generator. The silicone jacket maintains flexibility through repeated autoclave cycles without hardening or cracking, and the connector ends are matched to the specific bi-clamp forceps and generator interface. Cable integrity is essential for the impedance-feedback system to function correctly - a cord with degraded connectors or compromised internal conductors interrupts the feedback loop that vessel sealing generators depend on for controlled energy delivery. CE-certified.
