Suture carrying scissors have a notch or channel in the blade that holds a suture strand while the instrument navigates to the placement site. In confined operative fields - hand surgery, tendon repair, and procedures where the needle cannot access the suture placement site directly - this allows the suture to be carried to its intended position and deployed without repeated instrument exchanges.
