Dissectors and Elevators for Plastic Surgery - Nasal Elevators, Mammaplasty Retractors and More for Sale
Dissectors and elevators do the preparatory work that makes everything else possible. Before an osteotomy can be placed, the periosteum has to be elevated away from the nasal bone. Before a breast implant pocket is formed, the tissue plane has to be developed. Before a fractured nasal bone can be reduced, the elevator has to mobilise the fragment from the wrong position into the right one. These instruments work in direct tissue contact, often in confined spaces with limited visibility, and the precision of what they do determines the conditions the rest of the procedure operates under.
In plastic surgery the dissectors and elevators used span rhinoplasty, breast surgery, craniofacial work, and nasal fracture reduction - four procedural areas with distinct anatomical contexts and correspondingly different instrument requirements. A periosteal elevator suited for the nasal dorsum is not the right instrument for breast pocket development. A nasal fracture elevator that works in fresh trauma reduction is doing something mechanically different from mucoperichondrial elevation in elective rhinoplasty.
The instruments in this category at NJ Medical Instruments cover this range with procedure-specific designs: nasal retractors and elevators for rhinoplasty and fracture reduction, a mammaplasty retractor for breast surgery, and a craniofacial retractor for mandibular access. All are manufactured from surgical-grade stainless steel at the company's Sialkot facility, CE-certified, and reusable with autoclave sterilisation.
Nasal Elevators and Retractors for Rhinoplasty and Fracture Reduction
The nasal periosteum and mucoperichondrium are firmly adherent structures. Elevating them cleanly requires instruments with the right blade profile, edge quality, and shaft rigidity. Too narrow and the elevator loses coverage. Too sharp-edged and it tears rather than separates. Too flexible and the surgeon loses control of depth.
Barsky Nasal Retractor - 10 x 55 mm, Reusable
The Barsky Nasal Retractor, 10 x 55 mm Wide, Stainless Steel (Reusable) is designed for retraction within the nasal passage - the 10 mm width suits the internal nasal anatomy without excessive bulk, and the 55 mm blade length provides adequate coverage across the operative field. In rhinoplasty it holds the nasal mucosa and soft tissue back during osteotomy, septal work, and cartilage access. The blade width is also suited for intranasal examination and minor procedure exposure. Reusable, CE-certified, autoclavable.
Boies Nasal Fracture Elevator - Heavy Shaft with Blunt Edges
Nasal fracture reduction is a different task from elective rhinoplasty dissection. The instrument needs to exert controlled lateral and rotational force to move a displaced bony fragment back into anatomical position without creating additional injury to the overlying skin, mucosa, or cartilage. A standard periosteal elevator is too thin and flexible for this load. The Boies elevator's heavy shaft provides the rigidity needed to apply meaningful force through the nasal passage, and the blunt edges prevent soft tissue injury during manipulation.
The Boies Nasal Fracture Elevator with Heavy Shaft and Blunt Edges is the appropriate instrument for closed reduction of nasal fractures, both in the acute setting and in the correction of old malunited nasal fractures where the bone is more resistant and reduction requires more force. CE-certified, surgical stainless, autoclavable.
Breast Surgery Retractors for Mammaplasty Procedures
Breast pocket development requires retraction that maintains exposure deep in a closed space without damaging the tissue being dissected. The blade geometry determines whether the retractor sits stably against the pocket wall or slips, and whether it holds the tissue plane open effectively enough to allow dissection and haemostasis.
Biggs Mammaplasty Retractor - Narrow, Without Suction Tube, Reusable
The Biggs Mammaplasty Retractor Narrow Without Suction Tube (Reusable) is specifically configured for breast augmentation and mammaplasty pocket work. The narrow blade profile allows placement in the developing pocket without excessive bulk disrupting the dissection plane, and the absence of a suction tube keeps the instrument profile simple for standard pocket cases where integrated suction isn't required. This is the everyday breast retractor for augmentation and mastopexy pocket development. Reusable, CE-certified, autoclavable.
Craniofacial and Mandibular Retractors
Bauer Sigmoid Notch Retractor - 8 Inches, Reusable
The sigmoid notch is the concave area on the posterior ramus of the mandible, between the condylar and coronoid processes. Retraction at this anatomical site is required during sagittal split osteotomy and other mandibular procedures in orthognathic surgery, craniofacial reconstruction, and condylar access. The Bauer retractor is shaped specifically for this anatomy - its profile follows the sigmoid notch contour to maintain stable retraction without slipping.
The Bauer Sigmoid Notch Retractor, 8 Inches Length, Stainless Steel (Reusable) is the standard instrument for this indication in craniofacial and oral-maxillofacial surgery departments. Reusable, CE-certified, autoclavable.
