This set of three suction elevators covers the core elevation work in septoplasty and rhinoplasty. Each instrument lifts the mucoperichondrial flap while simultaneously clearing the blood that fills the plane the moment the flap separates from the cartilage. Using a separate elevator and a separate suction requires two hands and an assistant; a suction elevator returns one hand and the assistant to other work.
The three patterns divide the task. The Haraldsson handles the initial mucosal incision line and delicate superior dissection. The Freer separates broader flap areas. The cottle pattern addresses the maxillary crest and floor of the nose. Between the three, most septoplasties run without needing a fourth instrument.
