Adson Dressing Forceps – 12 cm and 15 cm, Serrated Platform

This is the plainest and most used of the Adson family, and its usefulness comes from having no speciality at all. The serrated platform holds gauze, dressing material, suture ends and soft tissue equally well, which is why it is the instrument reached for dozens of times in a procedure without anyone thinking about it. The Adson body — broad at the finger grip, tapering sharply to the tip — is what gives a large hand fine control over a small point.

Two lengths cover the working range. 12 cm suits superficial and facial work where the tip is close to the hand; 15 cm reaches into a deeper wound while keeping the fingers at the surface. Steel serrations rather than tungsten carbide keep this the economical everyday version — appropriate for an instrument used constantly on dressings and soft tissue rather than on needles and heavy material.
