Silicone Mat for Sterilization Trays – Medical Grade

Instruments are damaged between operations more often than during them. A tray of loose steel carried through a department, loaded into an autoclave and stacked in storage lets every instrument slide against its neighbours — and the things that suffer are the fine points and cutting edges, which are exactly the parts that determine whether an instrument still works. A silicone base gives them something to grip rather than a polished steel floor to skate across.

Silicone is used because it has to survive the same cycle the instruments do. A mat that degraded at autoclave temperature, or that reacted with cleaning agents, would contaminate the tray it was meant to protect. Medical-grade silicone is non-reactive and holds its form through repeated heat cycling, so it stays in the tray permanently rather than being a consumable.
