Weitlaner Self-Retaining Retractor, 11.5 cm – 2×3 Sharp Hooks

Self-retaining means the exposure survives the surgeon’s attention moving elsewhere. Once set, the ratchet holds the wound at a fixed opening for the length of the procedure — no assistant, no drift, and both hands free. For a single operator that is often the difference between a procedure being practical and needing a second pair of hands.

2×3 sharp hooks spread the hold across five points rather than concentrating it. That matters more on a self-retaining instrument than a hand-held one, because the tension sits on the wound edge continuously with nobody monitoring it. Sharp hooks grip skin and fascia that blunt ones would slide off — and at 11.5 cm this is the short Weitlaner, sized for small and superficial fields.
