Crayford Reynolds Scissors, 18 cm – Serrated Tungsten Carbide

Carbide on both blades rather than one keeps the pair wearing evenly. Inlaying only the cutting blade lets the other edge dull first, and once the two are mismatched the scissors begin to chew tissue instead of dividing it. Doing both is more expensive to make and is why an instrument like this outlasts a standard pair by years.

Micro-serrations on the lower blade solve the other half: tissue that slides forward ahead of the blades is never actually cut, so the surgeon ends up working the same spot repeatedly. Fine serrations grip it in place while the upper blade cuts. At 18 cm the scissors sit in the general working range rather than being tied to one procedure.
