The Fuller Ear Prosthesis Holding Forceps exists for one moment in stapedectomy: carrying a Teflon piston prosthesis from the instrument tray to the oval window and holding it in the correct orientation while the wire loop is placed over the incus. The 6 mm jaw length grips most of the prosthesis shaft, which prevents the rotation that would misalign the loop.
At 0.8 mm jaw width the profile stays narrow enough not to obscure the surgeon’s view of the oval window niche during the insertion. The 7.5 cm shaft places the fingers close enough for the fine positioning this step requires.
