Delicate Facelift Scissors, 20.5 cm – Curved, Flattened Tips

Flattened tips are the safety feature on a long pair of scissors. At 20.5 cm the surgeon is working well beyond the hand, under a flap they largely cannot see, so the tips meet tissue the surgeon is not directly watching. Flattening them means the points cannot perforate the flap from underneath — the cut happens between the blades, not at their ends.

Double-bevelled blades are ground on both faces, which keeps a long blade cutting evenly along its full length rather than only near the tip. The curve follows the plane beneath a facial flap, which is not flat, so the blades stay in contact with the plane rather than cutting across it.
