Castroviejo-Brown Tissue Forceps, 11.5 cm – Delicate Brown Teeth

This is the tissue-only version. Its multi-row Brown teeth grip tissue by dividing the hold across many small points, and nothing more is built into the jaw. The 12 cm diamond-dusted sibling adds an abrasive surface for gripping sutures and needles as well — useful when one instrument must do both, unnecessary when the surgeon has a separate tying forceps to hand.

Leaving the dusting off is not only a cost decision. A dusted jaw is deliberately abrasive, and abrasion against a graft or a conjunctival edge is the opposite of what a tissue forceps should do. Where the instrument will only ever hold tissue, plain fine teeth are the better surface. At 11.5 cm the forceps are slightly shorter than the dusted version, keeping the whole instrument inside the hand for work in a confined ophthalmic field.
