The problem this instrument solves is char. During bipolar coagulation, desiccated tissue bonds to the electrode tips; the surgeon then has to stop, wipe the tips, and often tears the coagulated vessel while pulling the forceps free. Every wipe interrupts the case, and repeated char build-up progressively raises the impedance at the tip so the same power setting delivers less effective coagulation.

The silver-composite surface addresses this at the material level. Silver conducts heat away from the contact point far faster than stainless steel, so the tissue immediately at the tip does not reach the temperature at which it bonds to metal. The 0.5 mm tip concentrates current into a small, precise coagulation zone — appropriate for microsurgical work where collateral thermal spread must stay minimal.
