The Hartmann–Weingartner Alligator Ear Forceps provides the strongest grip in the Hartmann ear forceps family. The alligator-tooth jaw pattern interlocks when closed, creating a cage around the target that prevents it from rotating, compressing out of the grip, or sliding sideways during extraction. This is the forceps chosen when the target—a foreign body, a large polyp base, or densely packed dressing material—resists the grip that cup, oval or serrated jaws provide.
At 8.5 cm (3¼″) the instrument works through a standard ear speculum. The slim shaft diameter preserves the operative corridor under microscopic view.
